1、LMAO意思是laughing my ass off 也就是“笑死宝宝了”。早在互联网普及之前，一些小年轻就开始用laughing my ass off了。塞林格的小说《麦田里的守望者》中就用到过它，男主角形容他看过的一部电影：“It ends up with everybody at this long dinner table laughing their asses off because the great Dane comes in with a bunch of puppies.”（最后，大家坐在长桌边狂笑不止，因为一只大丹狗领着一群小狗崽进来了。）

2、1989年，LMTO，即laughing my tush off（笑掉狗牙）就在网络上流传了。
